Description

Saturday:

Boarding in Trogir between 11:30 and 13:00. Shortly after we will set sail towards Rogoznica, a picturesque fishermen's village that lies on a small islet and is connected to the mainland by a narrow strip of land. On the way, we will anchor in a bay to take a first swimming break in the Adriatic. In the evening, boarding of guests arriving by late plane (with arranged transfer to Rogoznica).

Sunday:

We leave land and set sail towards the islands of Sibenik archipelago to have a swim. After several hours of enjoyment in the sun and the sea, we lift our anchor and direct our course towards either the island of Kaprije or Zirje. We stay for the night in one of those two quiet fishermen's towns.

Monday:

"On the last day of creation God decided to crown his deed and thus created Kornati out of tears, stars and breath", wrote the Irish author George Bernard Shaw, a 1925 Nobel-prize laureate. Wonderful nature, numerous small and large islands (it has been said: an island for every day in the year) and beautiful sea make Kornati a unique paradise on earth. It is the largest and densest archipelago in the Adriatic, consisting of 147 islands, islets and reefs with the total land surface area of 69 km2, scattered within the sea area of 230 km2. They stretch over a length of 35 km and width of about 13 km, between Dugi Otok (The Long Island) in the Northwest, islands of Zirje in the Southeast and Pasman, Vrgade and Murter in the North and Northeast. We will sail the Kornati along its entire length and stop in one bay on its northern part to have a swim. We are staying the night in Sali on the Island of Dugi Otok.

Tuesday:

After our habitual swimming break on Ugljan or Dugi Otok, we head towards Zadar, the cultural and administrative centre of Northern Dalmatia. Its Old Town, with numerous cultural monuments, lies on a peninsula surrounded by city walls. Use your time after dinner for a walk around the town or enjoy sounds of the unique Sea Organ installation/sculpture, whose melodies are created by waves. We stay the night in Zadar’s port.

Wednesday:

We head southwards along Ugljan and Pasman islands, and with a view of Kornati in the distance we arrive in the Vodice archipelago, where we anchor in one secluded bay and use our time to freshen up in the crystal clear sea. We stay the night in Vodice, a lively tourist destination with numerous cafés and taverns.

Thursday:

Several miles further south, we leave the Adriatic and enter the estuary of the Krka River. Our next stop is Sibenik. The city of Sibenik was first mentioned in 1006. It is the youngest of cities on the coast, but at the same time it is the oldest Croatian town. It was founded by neither Greeks nor Romans or Byzantium, but Croats. The best-known building in the old town centre is St. Jacob’s cathedral. Resembling a fortress, it is the most significant Renaissance monument in Croatia and it has been listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. After a visit to the city we sail further down the river Krka. We anchor at Skradin, not far from the well known Krka River waterfalls. From this point leave the boats that take visitors to the Krka National Park. Visit "Skradinski buk", the best known of the waterfalls, where the rushing Krka River does a 46-metre plunge, forming a set of 17 waterfalls laid out in an 800-metres long row, with cascades up to 10 metres wide. Be sure not to leave your swimwear behind, because swimming in the crystal clear Krka River, just beneath the waterfalls, is a unique experience. (Entrance fee for the National Park, which includes a boat ride, costs 8 €). We return back to the Adriatic and sail to Zlarin, a fishermen's village on the like-named island, where we stay the night.

Friday:

We leave Zlarin and return to the starting port of our journey, Trogir. On the way, we anchor, of course, to have one more swim in the sea. Early in the evening, we arrive to Trogir, the town protected by UNESCO, also called the museum-town. It is a beautiful experience to walk through the labyrinth of streets in the afternoon or evening, admire the walls, defence towers, churches, frescoes and ceilings or just here and there take a glimpse of the old house yards. Overnight stay in Trogir.

Saturday:

Departure after breakfast around 9 am.
