Description

Saturday:

Boarding from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the port in Rijeka, when you will also get acquainted with the crew and the rest of the passengers. Shortly afterwards, we will set off to sea towards the island of Krk, the biggest in the Adriatic. After approximately 3 hours of sailing, we will enter the port of the town of Punat. Punat is located in a deep, peaceful bay. The picturesque little islet of Kosljun lies nearby – it is a home to a monastery we recommend visiting. After dinner we recommend a stroll on the seaside promenade and exploring the town. Overnight stay in Punat.

Sunday:

Early in the morning we’ll head towards the village of Stara Baska. The village lies on the hills around the highest point of Krk, Obzova (569m). We will take a walk from Stara Baska, through the villages of Kaljina and Spuhotina, to the top of Veli Hlam hill (482 m), with a breathtaking view of the Baska valley – a lush, green coloured expanse that bisects the area we will be walking through. Through Vratudih and down to the village of Batomalj, then onward to Jurandvor is where we go next. Here you will have the chance to visit Sveta Lucija, the church where the Baska Stone Tablet is kept. It is one of the oldest documents of the Croatian language, written in Glagolithic script. After visiting the church, we’ll walk further down the asphalt road to the town of Baska, located 2 kilometers away, where our boat will be waiting for us. We will continue by boat to the Island of Rab, have a swimming break and sail into the town of Rab’s port. After dinner, a guide will take us for a tour of the town’s old quarter and its remarkable bell towers, churches and chapels.

Walking time approximately 4 h, climb and descent approximately 400 m

Monday:

After breakfast, we will begin our today’s walking route on the island of Rab, through the village of Mundanije and on along the beautiful walking path. During our walk we will be passing through gates in old drywalls. These walls surround the pastures where flocks of sheep graze. We will then arrive to the top of Kamenjak hill (410 m) and enjoy the view of the islands, their rocky environment to the north and rich greenery to the south, as well as the spectacular view of the Velebit massif on the mainland. We will return to our boat in the port in Rab the same way that we came. After lunch, we’ll set sail again and dock on the Island of Ilovik, the “flower island”, where we will have dinner and visit the nearby village.

Walking time approximately 4:00 h, climb and descent approximately 409 m

Tuesday:

We’ll go for a walking tour of Ilovik and afterwards sail out to the cove called Balvanida, in the south of the island of Mali Lošinj. In this area one can often see dolphins enjoying themselves and playing amidst the waves. We’ll climb the St. Ivan hill, taking the road known as the Calvary. From here the view stretches not only to the picturesque town of Veli Losinj, but also to the islands of Cres, Krk and Rab. We will descend down to Veli Losinj and then walk along the shore to the port of Mali Losinj. After dinner we will have a look around town.

Walking time on Ilovik and Mali Lošinj approximately 3 h, climb and descent on Lošinj approximately 240 m

Wednesday:

We will take the local bus to Nerezine on the island of Cres, from where we are to begin our climb of the Osoršica Mountain. Today’s route will be somewhat demanding and it will take us to the top of St. Mihovil hill, and then to the island’s highest point, Televrin hill (589 m). From there we will head back to the boat, which will be waiting for us in the town of Osor. After a short tour of Osor, we will sail out and spend the night in the village of Martinšćica.

Walking time approximately5:00 h, climb 530m, descent 588 m

Thursday:

Today’s walking route will begin in Martinščica – through the village of Vidovići, past vineyards and pastures and through a thick pine forest towards the top of Helm hill (482 m). We will be greeted by flocks of sheep along the way. We will then walk to the picturesque stone village called Lubenice, perched high on precipitous cliff. After a short break, we’ll continue our walk through meadows and olive groves to Valun bay, where our boat will be waiting on us. The “Blue Grotto”, a perfect place for swimming, is where we will spend the afternoon and then sail to the town of Cres to spend the night there.

Walking time approximately 6:00 h, climb and descent approximately 480 m

Friday:

We will be sailing towards the town of Lovran on the mainland while having breakfast. A pleasant walk along the Lungomare promenade, a walking path along the sea, comes next. We will pass through little towns, such as Ika and Ičići, and arrive– accompanied by the sound of the waves breaking – in Opatija. Opatija was one of the best known tourist destinations in Croatia, frequented by members of high society during the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Today, the charm of that period is still visible. After having lunch on the boat we will set out on the last route of our trip – to Rijeka, where we are expected to arrive late in the afternoon. Our last route will take us to Trsat, a place of pilgrimage, where we will visit the pilgrim church then return to the boat.

Walking time approximately 2 x 2 h, no climbs or descents in Lovran, a climb of 135 m in Rijeka.

Saturday:

After breakfast disembarkation at around 9 am.

Possible visits to museums etc. are not included in the price of this trip.
