Cres [Kvarner islands]
Photo Gallery »The island of Cres is the second largest island on the Adriatic. The South of the island, in the town Osor, is connected to the neighboring island of Lošinj by a drawbridge. There is a sweet water lake on the island called Vrana, a natural phenomenon. The island is a natural habitat of the griffon vulture, a very rare bird. The view from the towns of Beli or Lubenice over the sea and cliffs will leave you breathless. Valun is another picturesque place with a pebbled beach. In the town of Cres, island's capital, you can see Renaissance palaces of noble families that used to live on the island.
