Susak [Kvarner islands]
The island of Susak, situated west of the island of Lošinj, belongs to the Cres-Lošinj archipelago and is also known as "the sandy island". There is only one village on the island – Susak. The streets in the village are narrow and are not designed for modern vehicles, only for the passage of men and "karijole". There are no paved roads or cars on the island. The language spoken by island residents is very specific being the mixture of Old Croatian, English, Italian and French language. Susak is the island of sand, reed, specific language and picturesque traditional costumes that attract visitors with its unspoiled nature and clear blue sea. The island of Susak is connected by ferry to the island of Lošinj and the town of Rijeka.
