Šolta [Central Dalmatian islands ]
Photo Gallery »The island of Šolta is a small island not far from Split, with numerous small bays suitable for swimming and relaxing. The youngest place on the island, Nečujam, is a loan translation of its Latin name "Vallis surda" (Deaf Bay). Beach in Nečujam is the largest one on the island and it is ideal for family vacation. The largest and the oldest settlement on the island is Grohote situated exactly in the middle of the island. On the western part of the island there is a place called Maslinica which offers you a beautiful view over seven smaller islets. This is an ideal place for a peaceful and quiet holiday. You can try fish specialties and domestic wine or take a bicycle ride in the clean fresh air.
