Lastovo (island of Lastovo) [Island Lastovo]

The island of Lastovo belongs to the South Dalmatian group of islands. Due to its distance from the coast it looks secluded as if immersing into the blue of the sky and open sea. The Romans called it The Imperial Island, and wonderful buildings of white stone speak about its past. Lastovo has preserved the folk tradition of Carnival - the Shrovetide - by which the me of Lastovo celebrate the help of St George in their defence against the pirates.

  • The Lastovo Archipelago numbers 46 islets, and the sea around them is known the richest fishing area in the Adriatic.
  • The lovers of wine will find here the well known Lastovo Maraština, a gold-yellow dry wine of a characteristic aroma and mild bitterness.
