A tourist destination and harbor in Velebit channel, the town of Senj is located at the edge of a wooded slope at the foot of Velebit Mountain known for its strong wind (bura) in winter. Since ancient times, this region was the connection between the inland and the coast. Even Greek and Roman geographers and historians mentioned the harbor by the name of Senia. Visitors to the town of Senj have at their disposal a well-kept swimming area, Spasovac cove and a few small beaches where waters are crystal clear. During the summer months, many entertainment events take place in Senj, while carnival celebrations are organized in the winter.
