With over 200 km of well-kept ski trails, the Kitzbüheler Alpen region is, along with Stowe, Aspen, Wengen, St. Moritz, Cortina d'Ampezzo and Chamonix, among the largest and best known ski resorts in the world. Surrounding ski slopes are well connected by ski lifts and buses. The best known trails are Hahnenkamm with its famous downhill trail and Kitbüheler Horn with snowboarding trails. Besides winter sports, there is also a large selection of summer activities including hiking in the mountainous Wilder Kaiser region and the Brixental valley, swimming in Schwarzsee lake, horseback riding, golfing and tennis. Cyclists have at their disposal over 750 km of trails of all levels of difficulty, while Kitz-Alp-Bike mountain biking competition is the peak of the cycling season. The towns in the valley are known as being the centers of high life with an extensive Aprés ski offer.
