Mariborsko Pohorje, with its highest peak being 1543 m in altitude, is only 6 km away from Maribor, and 141 km from Ljubljana. There is 40 km of slopes for alpine skiing (21.5 km blue, 16 km red and 3.5 km black), 36 km of slopes for cross country skiing and 6 km of slopes for tobogganing. The distance between the slopes is great and often times one has to ski through the woods along the blue slopes to get from one slope to the next. Thus we would not recommend this ski resort for snowboarders because they are limited to the number of slopes they can use. Night skiing is also available at Mariborsko Pohorje with torches placed along the slopes totaling 7 kilometers.

In the event of there not being enough snow, snow cannons will ensure a minimum of 100 skiing days. There is also a ski school as well as a ski school for snowboarders and a daycare.

In January the World ski competition "Zlatna lisica" (Golden Fox) is held here.
