Zagreb, Varazdin & Marija Bistrica
Weekend program - 3 days, 2 nights

Friday
Arrival to Zagreb Airport. Transfer from the Airport to the hotel. Free time and overnight in the hotel.

Saturday
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Zagreb at 8.00h AM and drive towards Varaždin. Arrival to Varaždin around 09.00h. Sightseeing of the old town Varaždin with a local certified guide. According to the archaeological sites the history of Varaždin is longer than 8 centuries, but the name of the city was first mentioned in the year 1181 in the documents of the King Bela the third. In the year 1209 the town receives the status of the Free Royal City by the charter of the King Andrija the second Arpadovic. In 1464 the King Matija Korvin confirms Varaždin's coat of arms. In the period 1756-1776 it was the capital of Croatia. Varaždin is the city of churches and monasteries, it is the city of morning bells, it is the city of Angelus...
We will see the fortress Stari grad (Old town), city hall, palace Patačić, Palace Erdödi, Sermage, etc. We will also visit the city museum with the permanent exhibition. Lunch in the restaurant "Zlatne gorice" at Banjščina near Varaždin with a wonderful view and winetasting in their own wine cellar.
After lunch drive towards Marija Bistrica and sightseeing of the Croatian national pilgrimage center - the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We will also visit the Museum of the Votive Gifts and the Gallery of the shrine of Mother of God of Bistrica.
Afterwards drive towards Zagreb. Arrival to Zagreb around 18.00h PM. Free time and overnight in the hotel.
 
 
 

Sunday
Breakfast at the hotel. Sightseeing of Zagreb with a local certified guide.
We invite you to experience the past and the present of Zagreb by passing hrough the streets of the Lower and Upper Town, by visiting the famous arcades and sculptures of Mirogoj Park Cemetery, by entering inside the Zagreb Cathedral or by taking in the everyday lively atmosphere of Dolac Market. Our walk through the streets of the Upper Town will take us to St. Mark's Church, a symbol of Zagreb, to the best view of Zagreb from under the Lotrscak Tower and to the Stone Gate where we light a candle. Only in Zagreb the noon is announced by the cannon firing from the Lotrscak Tower and city parks are arranged in the form of a horse shoe.
Zagreb has Maksimir, the oldest public cultivated park in Europe and Archaeological Museum is proud to present the mummy with with the longest Etruscan epitaph. The journey through Zagreb's heritage and tradition will be enriched by the unigue taste of pepper biscuits and a visit to the bidermayer interior of the old Upper Town Zagreb Café.
After the sightseeing transfer to the airport and departure.
